Welcome to zoltoncohen.com. My name is Zolton Cohen, and I work as a freelance photographer and writer in southwest Michigan.

My 20+ year career in photography is closely aligned with my personal interests. I have worked in and written extensively about the field of residential house construction and homeownership, and a lot of my work has to do with architectural photography for builders, developers, and architects. My interest in both traditional and modern homes and their building practices is ongoing, and I keep up to date in the field through constant reading and consultation with friends and clients in the building trades. It is fascinating to learn about new products, styles and building methodology, and then get to see them implemented in the homes my photography customers build.

Another of my passions is recreational and team sports. As an avid bicyclist and cross country skier – and an ex-track and cross country runner - I appreciate the skill and determination it takes to be a top level competitor. As a photographer, I am continually stimulated, refreshed and renewed by capturing the grace and grit that athletes exhibit on the field of play.

A lifelong Kalamazoo resident, I am involved in many community groups and their goings-on, and have photographed events for entities as varied as Western Michigan University, the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club and grassroots non-profit philanthropic organizations like Bread for the Journey.
